We need your location to find you on LinkedIn and your postcode to find you on job boards
Recruiters spend a lot of their time resourcing for candidates on job boards and on LinkedIn, and usually this is through searching for people with specific skills as well as those who live within a certain distance from a client’s postcode.
Often we find that candidates uploaded their CV to a job board some years back when they were first job hunting and then when they are looking for a new role some time later, they forget to update their personal details on the job boards they registered with. The same thing applies to LinkedIn. When you first join LinkedIn you enter your location, but more often than not if you relocate for a new role, you forget to change your location details.
So when you upload your new CV to a job board with your latest job on it, remember to also change your registration contact details and add a new address, telephone number and /or email address if anything has changed.
Do the same thing for your LinkedIn profile. Make sure you add your new address and postcode as recruiters use a post code search to filter candidates on LinkedIn.
You cannot expect a recruiter or resourcer to find you in a search, if your registration details say that you live in Liverpool, when in fact you moved to Bristol 3 years ago!
